AmCham Ukraine Annual Report 2020
“2020 was a challenging and truly unprecedented year for Ukraine and the whole world. All spheres of our lives were affected by the spread of coronavirus. No one was ready for such a scenario. Still, our member companies have shown tremendous courage in helping to outfight the COVID-19. By helping local communities, paying taxes, and creating jobs, they played a crucial role in keeping Ukraine’s economy running despite all the difficulties. We are grateful to our member companies for their leadership in times of crisis. In 2021 we will continue to support our members and help their businesses grow by overcoming all uncertainties and difficulties of the post-coronavirus crisis”.
Andy Hunder
President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine
“2020 was a very challenging year globally, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Ukraine was no exception. As of September, every advanced economy is in recession or depression, while all emerging economies are in recession. Strikingly, over a third of the world’s population has been placed on lockdown throughout the year to stop the spread of COVID-19, causing severe repercussions for economies worldwide. The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine and our members were forced to operate by remote, yet remained fully united to push forward important initiatives, leverage impact, achieve high results, and give back to our communities, irrespective of the challenging environment. Entering 2021, we intend to use every opportunity to catalyze economic rebound in Ukraine, support real judicial reform, advocate for the protection of investor’s rights, encourage acceleration of digitalization efforts, and promote the continuation of key structural reforms to improve the business environment for all. We thank President Andy Hunder and AmCham’s highly professional, effective team who have tackled the challenges that have arisen to continue delivering excellence in everything they do. Thank you to our members for your unwavering support, we truly wish you and your colleagues the best of health and success in 2021 and beyond!”
