Policy Win: The Parliament Adopted the Draft Law on the Creation of the National Office on Intellectual Property

On June 16, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted Draft Law #2255 on the creation of the National Office on IP (Draft Law) as one of the key legislative initiatives in the sphere of intellectual property (IP).

This Draft Law will allow the transition to a two-tier system of IP protection, where the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine will develop the policy, and the National Office on Intellectual Property will implement it.

The promotion of the development of the enforcement mechanism in the sphere of IP is one of the key priorities of the AmCham IPR Committee. We congratulate Ukraine’s Parliament on voting to create a National IP Office as a positive step towards effective IP governance. It will also allow businesses to better protect their talents, innovations and investments.
