The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the Economic Stimulation Program to overcome the consequences of COVID-19 (the Program). The Program provides a set of anti-crisis measures aimed at overcoming the adverse effects for Ukraine's economy, caused by the coronavirus outbreak, in such areas as industry, agriculture, energy, transport and infrastructure, information and communication technologies, services.
The Government's Economic Stimulation Program takes into account Chamber proposals in the following areas: access to finance; ensuring transparency on energy markets and further harmonization with EU rules; settlement of payments issue in green electricity sector; elimination of trade barriers for Ukrainian agricultural products by simplifying phytosanitary procedures; modernization and sustainable development; access to infrastructure. Moreover, the focus is made on innovations that are closely linked to productivity growth and are basis for economic development.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine welcomes the steps of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine aimed at restoring Ukraine's economy after COVID-19 outbreak and is ready to continue the dialogue for their further improvement. on a separate note, the Chamber took an active part in the development Program’s part on anti-crisis initiatives to support transport and infrastructure, which was prepared by the Center for Economic Recovery.
