The agenda will be devoted to the presentation“Regulation of Cryptographic Data Protection in Ukraine” by Mr. Dmytro Gadomskiy, Tax & Legal, Deloitte, followed by discussion on existing impediments of the certification process.

The agenda of the Meeting included discussion of the scope of business activities related to information security technologies and systems that require certification as defined in the Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine “On Certification of Different Kinds of Economic Activity” from April 1st, 2000. The current definitions used in various laws and decrees are too broad, and should be narrowed down to activities involving the information that is considered as the government property or is protected by the government.
The participants also discussed business activities related to information security technologies and systems that require certification. As the result of the discussion, they identified that the greatest impediment is not the certification of business activities, but the existing process of certification of the hardware and software tools that are used for cryptographic protection of the confidential information since due to the nature of legislative environment and regulation, the process of certification can take up to 18 month or more.
