Policy Progress: New Wheat Standard Enters into Force Already in June

The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine welcomes changes to the Order of the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Research and Training Center of Standardization, Certification and Quality" (hereinafter - SE "UkrNDNC") regarding the date of entry into force by the national standard for wheat. According to the new Order, the mentioned standard enters into force on June 10, 2019.

Considering that the new marketing year in agricultural sector starts on June 1, introduction of the new wheat standard starting August 1, as previously planned, would result in a regulatory vacuum that would make it impossible for the elevators to work smoothly and to store a new wheat harvest. According to the new Order, the agrarian market will avoid collisions with regard to standards for working with a new harvest.

AmCham Agricultural Committee Experts raised mentioned issue in the framework of the recent meeting with Olga Trofimtseva, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food and also addressed the SE “UkrNDNC” with official letter.
