AmCham Ukraine welcomes the adoption of Draft Law #5552-1 “On Copyright and Related Rights” (Draft Law) by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the second reading.
The Draft Law is developed:
- to improve the legal regulation of issues related to the exercise and protection of personal non-property and property rights of subjects of copyright and related rights;
- to harmonize national legislation with the legislation of the European Union (EU) in the field of copyright and related rights by implementing, in particular, the provisions of Directive 2001/29/EC.
Accelerating Ukraine’s membership in the EU by approximating national legislation in competition, customs, healthcare, IPR, media, and other spheres is one of the 10 Priorities for Ukraine’s Post-War Economic Recovery, developed by the Chamber experts.
We support the reform of copyright and related rights in Ukraine, declared in the Draft Law #5552-1, and look forward to the soonest signing of the respective Law by the President of Ukraine and further successful implementation of its provisions.
