On November 3, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted Draft Law #4568 “On Materials Contacting with Food Products” (Draft Law) in the second reading.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (the Chamber) welcomes the adoption of the Draft Law which determines the legal and organizational framework for ensuring the safety of materials contacting with food products.
The Chamber has been continuously engaging in a process of improvement of food safety legislation and expressed support for the Draft Law along with proposals of the business community to be taken into account.
However, some provisions still need to be further improved. We also emphasize the importance of timely approval of all registers provided by the provisions of the Draft Law.
We are grateful to the experts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and Members of Parliament, members of the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, for the consistent and coordinated work on the Draft Law. We look forward to continuing fruitful dialogue to further streamline and improve the legislation in the food & beverage sphere.
