The discriminatory environmental fee has been eliminated for importers in the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, and state regulation of domestic trade has been reduced.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (AmCham) has repeatedly emphasized the need to resolve problematic issues of trade with the Republic of Moldova, namely: to eliminate the discriminatory environmental tax on packaged goods, to ensure risk-based approach to inspections of imported food of non-animal origin, and to promote the removal of excessive state regulation of the domestic trade market by the Republic of Moldova.
During the discussions with representatives of the Republic of Moldova within the framework of the Ukrainian-Moldovan High Level Working Group on Trade and Economic Issues it was reported that the legislative norms of the Republic of Moldova currently do not contain any discriminatory characteristics in the field of trade.
The AmCham welcomes the significant improvement of the conditions for access of Ukrainian goods to the Moldovan market and expresses its deep gratitude to the experts of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine for their assistance in resolving this issue.
At the same time, AmCham member companies' experts emphasize the need to continue the dialogue on revision of approaches to inspections of imported food products by the National Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Moldova (ANSA) in order to ensure systematic application of risk-based approach principles and prevent violations of Ukrainian exporters' rights as well as to eliminate problematic issues of customs clearance of non-alcoholic beverages, taking into account the current legislation of the Republic of Moldova.
