The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine welcomes passing of Draft Law #7457 regarding medical cannabis in the first reading by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on July 14, 2023.
The Draft Law creates a legal framework to regulate the controlled and limited circulation of cannabis and its derivatives in medical, industrial, scientific, and scientific-technical activities.
Medical cannabis is a medicine that is necessary to ensure the provision of quality medical services, prevent the suffering of patients and promote their recovery from complex diseases, including the treatment of epilepsy, oncological diseases, patients in need of palliative care, patients with chronic pain syndrome, as well as war veterans and civilians with post-traumatic stress disorder.
We believe that full adoption of this progressive legislation will pave the way for advancements in healthcare in line with the best practices.
We are grateful to the Members of the Parliament for passing this important Draft Law in the first reading and look forward to its soonest adoption in the second reading.
