AmCham Ukraine welcomes the adoption as a whole of the Draft Law #14174 “On Safety and Interoperability of Ukrainian Railway Transport” aimed at implementing European Union (EU) legislation in the railway sector, particularly in the areas of railway safety and interoperability, into national legislation.
Experts of AmCham Ukraine member companies generally support this legislative initiative, focused on improving the legal and organizational framework for ensuring railway safety, further integrating Ukraine into the Single European Railway Area (SERA), and enhancing the efficiency of sector governance in line with EU norms and standards.
At the same time, the business community looks forward to the continuation of the systemic reform of the Ukrainian railway sector in accordance with Directive 2012/34/EU, the establishment of transparent and competitive market rules, the regulation of interactions between private siding operators and the railway infrastructure managers, as well as the liberalization of access to the railway transportation market.
AmCham Ukraine remains committed to contributing to the development of comprehensive railway legislation and expresses its gratitude to the Members of Parliament, representatives of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and JSC “Ukrainian Railway” for the constructive cooperation and the progress achieved in this sphere.
