The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (AmCham), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, pharmaceutical associations, and other professional organizations, signed the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding and Cooperation. Implementation of the medicines verification system is an important tool for preventing and combating the threat of counterfeit medicines and ensuring that every Ukrainian citizen has access to safe treatments.
Implementation of NMVO is provided for in Article 57 of the new Law of Ukraine "On Medicinal Products". Moreover, this system should be harmonized and built on the European model of and should be connected to the centralized European database of medicines verification for its effective operation.
Together with the AmCham the following associations signed the Memorandum:
- All-Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Chamber
- All-Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Union "PHARMUKRAINA"
- Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufactures
- Association of Medicines Manufacturers of Ukraine
- Association of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (APRaD)
