Asters acts as a legal counsel to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in connection with its EUR 10 million financing for Grain Alliance Group, a Swedish-owned large-sized agricultural holding in Ukraine that cultivates around 60,000 hectares of land.
The loan will be used to improve and expand export capacity for grain, which was disrupted as a result of Russia's large-scale armed aggression against Ukraine. To this end, Grain Alliance Group will increase storage capacity, modernise infrastructure, as well as purchase grain hoppers, locomotives and trucks to ensure safe grain transport from Ukraine to Slovakia and onwards to final customers. The investment will help to provide transshipment capacity of 400,000 tonnes per year and preserve over 1,000 jobs.
Asters’ Banking and Finance team advising on the project consisted of Partner Iryna Pokanay, Counsel Gabriel Aslanian, Senior Associate Inna Bondarenko and Associate Viktoria Zagreba.
