AmCham Ukraine calls on Parliament to consider the business community’s proposals before voting on the Consumer Rights Law

The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine urges Members of Parliament to consider the business community’s proposals before adopting Law #6134 On Consumer Rights Protection.

On December 9, 2022, AmCham members participated in the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development. Since then, last-minute amendments have been included in the text of the Draft Law without prior consultations with business representatives.

Several proposals, taken into account at the last moment, completely nullify European principles of the Draft Law, pose corruption risks, and introduce additional administrative and financial pressure on the business.

As a result, the Chamber does not support the wording of the Draft Law and calls on the Parliament to introduce the business community’s proposals during the finalization of the Draft Law before the second reading.
