The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (the Chamber) welcomes the announcement by the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of a project to digitize phytosanitary services of the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
The project of phytosanitary services and processes’ digitalization foresees the online application for cargo aimed at achieving positive changes with regard to providing and receiving these services. In particular, preventing forgery of documents at export, reducing international notifications of incorrect registration of phytosanitary certificates, operative control over the movement of cargoes, prevention of delay of cargoes at customs clearance in the country of import. The integration of the national system with the international system The HUB is also being implemented.
More than ten countries have already joined the electronic system The HUB, including the USA, Australia, China, Egypt, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and others.
The Chamber member companies experts’ support steps towards digitalization of phytosanitary services and Ukraine’s accession to the electronic system The HUB. This will help increase exports and open new markets for Ukrainian agricultural products, as well as reduce costs for exporters associated with the issuance of paper phytosanitary certificates.
