In its four decades, American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS has developed into one of the premier international education and training organizations, administering more than thirty exchange and training programs between individuals and institutions in the United States and the countries of Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
American Councils strengthens international ties and connections between countries and cultures through excellence in academic, professional and cultural exchange, language acquisition, educational development, and research.
American Councils develops collaborative and partnership programs, administers fellowship programs on behalf of the US government and private donors, consults on project design and education innovation programs, and actively contributes to the development of Eurasian language and area studies in the United States. Since 1974, American Councils educational portfolio has grown to include 140 countries important to national security, prosperity, and peace. American Councils participants represent a spectrum of learners, from high school through the postdoctoral and professional level.
To date, American Councils have built a community of more than 100,000 alumni, including national leaders, ministers, members of parliament, ambassadors, and CEOs.
Established in 1992, American Councils Ukraine is staffed by a professional Kyiv-based team who partner with local government bodies, organizations, and communities to strengthen education and institutions. Our programs have reached more than 10,000 people across the country, who in turn influence policy, pedagogy, and the economy with tangible results. Together with the U.S. Department of State, USAID, and local communities, American Councils Ukraine delivers impactful results that contribute to a more resilient Ukraine.
