The Chamber Infrastructure Committee experts have been continuously advocating for bringing the procedure of environmental control over ballast water discharge in accordance with the provisions of the Customs Code of Ukraine (exclusion of ballast water control). In this context, the Chamber Infrastructure Committee experts highlighted the imperfect procedure for the implementation of marine environmental inspections by the State Ecological Inspection of Ukraine in terms of control over ballast water discharge.
The relevant decision was reflected in a comprehensive CMU Resolution, initiated by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and adopted at the Government's meeting on March 27. The Resolution is aimed at easing the conditions of doing in Ukraine and raising Ukraine's position in Doing Business rating.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine welcomes such step of the Government as it is designed to reduce the corruption risks in the environmental sphere, and is looking forward to publishing of the Resolution at the CMU official website.
