In the first weeks after the full-scale invasion on February 24, Henkel launched large-scale Solidarity program. Our top priority is the safety and support of our employees: the company immediately paid our colleagues three months in advance, provided additional emergency financial support to each of them, and helped relocate to safer regions of Ukraine or EU countries. Henkel allocated more than UAH 33.8 million for supporting projects for Ukrainian colleagues. Despite the forced downtime or temporary stoppage of business processes at the beginning of the war, all employees were paid and continued to be paid 100% of their salaries.
After the security issues were resolved, the company helped employees to restore their mental well-being and regain energy and personal motivation. For this purpose, we have established psychological support lines and educational and mental health online meetings called "Morning Coffee". We also launched regular online meetings for employees with the President of Henkel Ukraine Olena Yefremova Kursik, so called “President Meet-Up”.
Thanks to the resilience spirit of our teams, Henkel customers and partners always had stable products’ supplies, as far as the security and logistics situation allowed. In spring, two of four Henkel production facilities in Ukraine (in Lviv and Kyiv regions) resumed their operation: the company's sites are investing in new technologies and innovative products, modernizing within the framework of the company's global sustainability strategy – energy-saving technologies, sustainable use of resources, digitalization of business processes.
The development of Ukrainian economy means investments of UAH 208 million from the Headquarter and local Henkel businesses
Since the first days of the war, global Henkel company, its Ukrainian businesses and corporate volunteers have launched social solidarity and humanitarian support projects. Henkel was one of the first global companies to strongly condemn the act of aggression against Ukraine, freezing investments and sponsorship projects in Russia and then announced its intention to exit the Russian market till the end of a year. Less than 48 hours after the Russian invasion, Henkel approved a package of financial assistance for humanitarian purposes for Ukraine and its citizens as an expression of solidarity with Ukraine. Its total amount reached more than UAH 210 million. A great example of the unity of our international team: Henkel colleagues from all over the world donated 100,000 euros for Ukrainian refugees, the foundation named after the company founder Fritz Henkel doubled this amount, and all the funds were used for humanitarian purposes.
"Henkel Bautechnik (Ukraine)“provided communities in the locations of production sites with construction materials to protect social infrastructure facilities, and fully equipped a temporary shelter for refugees in Lviv region at the territory of its factory. After the end of active military actions and the liberation of the occupied territories of Ukraine, Henkel businesses were among the first to send humanitarian aid with hygiene products and detergents to overcome the humanitarian catastrophe, as well as construction materials to restore the war-damaged areas and social infrastructure buildings as schools, kindergartens, and hospitals. Total donations of products to medical organizations, hospitals, volunteer movements and organizations reached UAH 92 million.
