On August 23, 2024, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine published the Draft Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "Some Issues of Creating a Natural Gas Insurance Reserve".
AmCham member companies proposed amendments requiring the insurance reserve for gas month M+1 to be calculated based on actual consumption volumes from gas month M-1, as recorded in the Supplier's register for gas month M+1.
According to AmCham member companies' experts, these amendments will help to achieve the goal of the Draft Resolution – to use natural gas by suppliers from their own insurance reserves for the needs of their consumers in case of an emergency on the natural gas market.
In November 2024, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine published the revised Draft Resolution with the proposals of the AmCham member companies incorporated.
We are grateful to the Ministry for supporting and taking into account the business community's proposals on approving the amount of the natural gas reserve stock to ensure reliable gas supply to consumers.
