The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued Resolution #1049 dated October 11, 2021, providing for the issuing state guarantees for issuing bonds with the aim of supporting the liquidity of NEC Ukrenergo.
This will allow solving the problem of Ukrenergo’s debt before the state enterprise Guaranteed Buyer. These funds should be directed to repay the debt formed under the conditions of agreements for the sale and purchase of electrical energy concluded by the Guaranteed Buyer with producers of green energy.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine has continuously supported this initiative by addressing the Government on this issue. Therefore, the Chamber welcomes measures improving payment discipline in the electricity sector and supports the further development of the regulation aimed at improving the financial situation on the Ukrainian electricity market and repayment of all previously generated debts.
