On September 26, AmCham Ukraine in partnership with USAID Financial Sector Reform Activity in Ukraine organized a webinar for businesses on political risk insurance (PRI) provided by US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
Participants had an opportunity to learn more about PRI’s role in attracting investments in high-risk conditions, removing the financial burden of potential asset damage from investors, and its potential for business development and scaling in Ukraine despite all the current challenges.
During the event, speaker, Marlena Hurley, Managing Director, Political Risk Insurance & Reinsurance at DFC, has informed the participants that DFC has already issued $500 million in insurance policies in Ukraine, and for those interested, a coverage from $1 million up to $1 billion can be provided. Projects in all sectors will be considered on a case-by-case basis, excluding defense, ammunition, tobacco, and alcohol production.
As a follow-up, we would like to share with you the following materials provided by the DFC:
- Presentation “US International Development Finance Corporation: Political Risk Insurance”;
- Investment tools on PRI;
- PRI in Ukraine.
If you want to apply or get more information, please visit the DFC website. Please note that prior contact with the DFC team before submitting an application is not required, however it can make the process easier for both parties.
