Ukraine Announces Privatisation of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsk Seaport

Following the successful privatisation of the Ust-Dunaisk Seaport in January of this year, the State Property Fund of Ukraine has announced another privatisation of a seaport. This time, the Bilhorod-Dnistrovsk Seaport in the Odesa region will be put up on sale and it will be the second privatisation of a port since Ukraine’s independence.

The privatisation auction will take place on 3 March 2023. This seaport will be sold as a small-scale asset through the Prozorro.Sale electronic procurement system. The starting price for this asset has been set at UAH 187.6 mln. (ca. EUR 4.8 mln), excluding VAT, and the price proposals will be accepted online through 2 March 2023. More details on the auction terms can be found here.

Although the Bilhorod-Dnistrovsk Seaport has resumed its activity in May 2022 following the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, it requires substantial private investment to restore its full-fledged operations. The Ukrainian government expects this privatisation to further boost the development of the seaport infrastructure and create new workplaces in the region. This auction once again demonstrates the government’s commitment to continue with privatisations during the wartime.
