The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine calls on Members of Parliament to support the Draft law #2289. This will give Ukrainian farmers access to high-quality and innovative crop protection products (CPP) that help produce safe and high-quality agricultural products, as well as increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and Ukraine's economic growth as a whole.
For more than four years, Ukrainian farmers have been deprived of full access to innovative crop protection products. This situation arose due to the fact that in December 2015, Part 2 of Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine "On Pesticides and Agrochemicals" during the second reading was amended without discussion, which effectively blocked the access of innovative CPP to the Ukrainian market.
The Chamber member companies' experts emphasize that the Ukrainian agricultural sector has already lost four previous seasons when companies producing original products failed to import more than 110 innovative products with about 20 active substances or their combinations for state testing and research in Ukraine. Therefore, it is vital not to miss the next season.
