The Ukrainian Red Cross has completed the selection process for the "Group Cash Transfers for Strengthening Frontline Community Resilience" program, implemented with US Government support under the ANCHOR-UA initiative ("Assistance for National Crises Response, Humanitarian Operations, and Resilience").
The program aims to support communities affected by the war that face daily challenges in meeting residents' basic needs amid ongoing crisis conditions.
A total of 51 applications were submitted by local government authorities, municipal enterprises, and public institutions from Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv oblasts. Following the evaluation process, the selection committee chose 18 winning projects: six from Mykolaiv Oblast, four from Kharkiv Oblast, and eight from Chernihiv Oblast.
Under the program, the winning projects will receive grants ranging from UAH 500,000 to UAH 2 million to implement priority measures focused on emergency response, restoring essential services, and strengthening community resilience.
Key areas of the winning projects include:
- Energy Independence for Water Supply and Utilities – Construction of solar power plants and installation of energy storage systems to power pumps and wells.
- Reliable Healthcare and Critical Infrastructure – Provision of backup power for hospital equipment, including CT scanners, as well as restoration of heating and sewerage systems.
- Safety and Energy Autonomy for Educational Institutions – Installation of solar panels and restoration of roofs at schools and kindergartens to ensure uninterrupted learning for children during power outages.
All projects have undergone a thorough needs assessment and have prepared implementation plans, budgets, funding utilization plans, and the required documentation packages. The implementation of these initiatives will strengthen the resilience of frontline communities ahead of the winter season and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential services to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians.
