Shell Celebrates Its Safety Day Globally and in Ukraine

Sep 15, 2021: Shell celebrates its Safety Day globally and also in Ukraine. This year its employees and contractors will get acquainted with the refreshed Life Saving Rules, announced by the International Association of Oil&Gas Producers (IOGP). In Ukraine Shell is among the first companies to introduce these rules. These changes will contribute to the safe operation, keeping our people and visitors all the time in safe environment.

This year IOGP updated the Life Saving Rules, which are mandatory for all energy companies, their contractors, and stakeholders. These rules have been acting as the baseline for the business activity within the company since 2009 and already became an intrinsic part of the company’s culture. Our experience shows that following these rules helps us to prevent potential risks and doing the job more safely and responsibly.

The main change is moving from 12 to 9 Life Saving Rules, which are all industry standardized.  So, on this special day there will be different dialogues and conversations within the company on the importance of implementing and following these rules.

«Safety is our number one priority and through this it is also one the most frequently used term in our company, both at the office and at our sites. We pay attention to the regular discussions of the potential risks, accidents in the industry, how to learn from and avoid them. Besides, we have monthly trainings at all our petroleum stations on how to respond professionally to all kind of emergencies. Safety Day in Shell is so important globally and in Ukraine where we are raising safety awareness internally through wide range of discussions and activities including practical safety trainings. When it comes to safety we all should speak the same language”, stresses Peter Kerekgyarto, CEO of Shell Retail in Ukraine.

Implementation and awareness of new Life Saving Rules will help greatly to improve the safety related communication within the industry, with our service providers and for our staff and clients.
