Sayenko Kharenko Supports Veteran-Friendly Business Principles

Sayenko Kharenko has joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine’s initiative by signing the Veteran-Friendly Business Principles, a document supporting veterans’ integration into civilian life and the workplace.

Oleksandr Nikolaichyk, partner at Sayenko Kharenko, represented the firm at the signing ceremony. The ceremony gathered leading companies operating in Ukraine, including Avrora Multimarket, Baker McKenzie, Bunge, Cargill, Carlsberg, Cisco, Citi, Horizon Capital, KPMG, McDonald’s, Unilever, and Winner Group.

The document was developed by Starlight Media in collaboration with Veteran Hub and Forbes Ukraine, with support from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. These principles outline 12 key actions designed to create inclusive workplaces for veterans and support their successful adaptation to civilian professional life.

“As legal professionals, we understand the importance of supporting those who defend our country,” said Oleksandr Nikolaichyk, partner at Sayenko Kharenko. “This commitment goes beyond words—it’s reflected in our workplace policies. We guarantee job security for all our colleagues currently serving in the Armed Forces and aim to recruit more veterans.”

Michael Kharenko, partner at Sayenko Kharenko and Board Member of the American Chamber of Commerce, emphasised the broader importance of this initiative for the Ukrainian business community:

“Integrating veterans into our business community isn’t just about fulfilling our social responsibility—it’s about embracing the exceptional talent and perspective they bring. Military experience cultivates remarkable leadership abilities, a disciplined work ethic, and a strong ability to successfully navigate challenging situations. We believe that building professional partnerships with our veteran community is a vital step toward creating a stronger, more resilient Ukrainian economy.”

The principles cover various business areas, including workplace practices, marketing strategies, procurement policies, and community engagement initiatives. This document serves as a public commitment from businesses to actively support Ukrainian defenders and their families through concrete actions and opportunities.

The initiative represents a key priority for participating organisations dedicated to helping veterans reintegrate into the workforce, encouraging more employers to hire veterans, and creating meaningful opportunities for their professional development and success.
