Kyivstar Has Connected 4G in 1195 Settlements

In March 2021, another 493,000 people in 19 regions of Ukraine gained an opportunity to use new mobile communication technologies

Kyivstar increased 4G network coverage in 19 regions of Ukraine. For this purpose, the operator activated high-speed data transmission technology (LTE) at 202 base stations. As a result, residents of 1,195 settlements received access to 4G communication capabilities. In particular, 4G coverage in Kirovohrad Oblast was increased in 372 settlements, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast – 196 settlements, Rivne Oblast – 147 settlements, Donetsk Oblast – 120 settlements, Poltava Oblast – 107 settlements.

Kyivstar installed more than 23,600 base stations in order to provide Ukrainian residents access to new mobile technologies. Among other things, LTE (4G) technology was activated at 14,700 base stations. Therefore, more than 87% of the Ukrainian population lives and works within the coverage area of 4G Kyivstar. The telecom operator is planning to provide 4G for 90% of the population of Ukraine by 2022.

New mobile technologies give subscribers more opportunities for business, education, telemedicine, access to administrative services, etc. If you would like to use the service you only need a smartphone that supports LTE/4G technology and the appropriate SIM card (USIM) which can be obtained free of charge from the operator.

Mobile operators of Ukraine accelerated the development of 4G in small and hard-to-reach settlements due to the redistribution of 900MHz range radio frequencies.  The radio-frequency base stations cover larger areas, which is important when providing residents in hard-to-reach settlements with access to new technologies. For this purpose, Kyivstar voluntarily shared the radio frequency spectrum in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz ranges with other market participants. As a result, other mobile operators were able to form continuous bands of radio frequencies, which is critical for the development of of high-speed mobile data transmission.
