Anzhela Makhinova, Partner at Sayenko Kharenko and Head of the International Trade Working Group at the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (ACC), has been included in four strategic government negotiation groups on Ukraine’s EU accession, representing business community interests.
As a business community representative, Anzhela Makhinova will participate in developing negotiating positions in areas directly affecting business operations: free movement of goods, external relations, entrepreneurship and industrial policy, and customs union. Her expertise in international trade and experience with European legislation will ensure that practical business needs are considered as Ukraine integrates into the EU single market.
“Including business community representatives in the negotiation groups is a crucial step towards ensuring a practical approach to forming Ukraine’s positions. This will help address real business needs when establishing operating conditions in the future EU single market. Only business can articulate the need for realistic transition periods that will allow industries not just to survive but to adapt to new conditions during EU accession,” comments Anzhela Makhinova.
The working groups, established under the government decree of 27 August 2024, will serve as a key platform for dialogue between government and business during Ukraine’s European integration process.
