On April 11, the President of Ukraine signed the Decree appointing judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court (hereinafter – HACC) and its Appeal Chamber. This step makes Ukraine closer to the launch of the specialized court for corruption offences and creation of full cycle system for prosecuting persons involved in corruption.
We welcome the appointment of 38 judges to the HACC. To ensure transparency of the process and integrity of selected candidates the election of judges was conducted with participation of international experts. The AmCham Ukraine was a part of the process, as it actively participated in preparation of the legislative basis for creation of the Court.
The launch of the HACC as well as the fight against corruption are among key conditions for cooperation with the IMF and other international partners. Taking into account that continuous cooperation with these stakeholders are among the key priorities for the AmCham Ukraine Members, we will continue to closely monitor further developments in this sphere.
