In the shadow of an evolving global reality, the devastating effects of the ongoing war touch every Ukrainian heart. The consequences of war extend far beyond the physical realm, delving deep into the psychological resilience of individuals. The haunting memories of wartime horrors often make it difficult to find tranquillity, even in moments of physical safety.
Though not visible to the naked eye, these hidden scars are as real and painful as any physical injury. They can give rise to mental health challenges, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, insomnia, and more. Recognising the urgent need to address this pressing issue, the DoLadu mental health project was born.
The DoLadu mental health project aims to establish a systematic and comprehensive psychological rehabilitation system. Its mandate extends to serving military personnel, veterans, their families, and the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to overcome the aftermath of war. Beyond this, it aims to construct an entire ecosystem to revitalise mental health while pursuing a sustainable and prosperous future for Ukraine.
That is why we are pleased to announce the start of the collaboration between the Breathe Charity Fund and the Doladu NGO to implement the DoLadu mental health project. Our partnership is an essential step towards achieving a common goal – extending a lifeline to those in dire need of restoring their psychological equilibrium.
The collaboration will not only bolster the quality and accessibility of mental health services but also elevate awareness about the critical importance of mental well-being within society.
Currently, the DoLadu mental health team provides psychological assistance and psychosocial support in centres opened based on medical healthcare facilities, one of which is the “Pushcha-Vodytsia” Medical Rehabilitation Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The Breathe Charity Fund allocates UAH 2,269,219.50 in support as part of the start of cooperation, which will cover the centre’s costs for psychological rehabilitation for six months.
The plan is to construct an ambulatory centre, DoLadu Mental Health, to provide psychological and psychosocial support. One of the next steps in the partnership and cooperation between the Breathe Charity Fund and the DoLadu NGO is to raise funds for this significant project.
“As we navigate these challenging times, the ‘Breathe’ charity fund is returning to its core mission, adapting to our new reality and the imperative to provide essential support to those affected by aggression. We firmly believe in the power of a comprehensive approach and the transformative methodology of DoLadu mental health. Psychological rehabilitation is a cornerstone of overall well-being, and we are honoured to be part of this pivotal mission,” expressed Nazar Chernyavsky, Head of the Breathe charity fund.
Khrystyna Kurganska, Chair of the Board of the “DoLadu” public organisation, added, “We deeply appreciate the opportunity to join forces with the Breathe charity fund and are confident that our united goal will help guide an ever-increasing number of individuals along this challenging path. We aim to restore inner peace and foster resilience within our resilient Ukrainian nation.”
