On March 26, the first Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certificate was issued to the first company in Ukraine. The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (AmCham Ukraine, Chamber) welcomes this positive step to create favorable conditions for foreign economic activity of transparent companies.
Harmonization of the Ukrainian legislation with the advanced international legislation in the customs sphere based on the World Customs Organization standards and the EU law is among Ukraine’s obligations under the international agreements. The AmCham Ukraine members have been continuously supporting the implementation of the AEO concept in Ukraine and provided their proposals and expertise to improve the draft legislation and bylaws in line with the world’s best practices.
We would like to thank Chamber Customs Committee Co-Chairs Anton Melnyk, EY, and Vita Miroshnychenko, PwC; Head of the Chamber Working Group on AEO Yulia Pyndus, Capital, Agency of Customs Brokers; and all AmCham Ukraine members who were actively involved in this advocacy process for their contribution.
The Chamber Working Group on AEO will continue its work to support the proper practical implementation of the AEO program and usage of respective benefits by companies.
