AVELLUM is pleased to announce that its partner, Vadim Medvedev, acted as an expert on Ukrainian law in a high-profile case before the High Court of Justice. The case arises from certain claims related to alleged misappropriation of loans originally issued by a now-insolvent Ukrainian bank.
AVELLUM’s assistance proved instrumental for the High Court to approve anti-suit injunction application against the defendant. The full version of the judgment is available via the link.
Vadim Medvedev, with support from AVELLUM team, prepared a comprehensive report focusing on issues of Ukrainian procedural law and its impact on cross-border proceedings. The report addressed the unprecedented case where Ukrainian courts invalidated an expert report on Ukrainian law previously submitted before the High Court in English proceedings. The report also provided an overview of the enforceability of the disputed Ukrainian judgments, its implications on case participants and third parties, as well as the finality of such judgments.
AVELLUM team was led by partner Vadim Medvedev, with assistance from counsel Oleksii Maslov, senior associate Anna Vlasenko and associates Illia Ivanusa, Tetiana Zavalko, and Oleksandr Stadnyk.
