The Ukrainian Red Cross has joined a support program aimed at helping agricultural producers preserve their harvests. The project is funded by the U.S. Government, alongside the Government of Canada, the European Union, and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. The program is implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Mercy Corps, and the Ukrainian Red Cross, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
The initiative enables agricultural enterprises to receive free polymer grain storage sleeves for temporary harvest storage in areas where grain storage facilities are insufficient or damaged. Each sleeve can hold approximately 200 metric tons of grain, helping farmers preserve their grain and oilseed crops.
Program eligibility criteria:
- Producers of grain and oilseed crops cultivating between 100 and 3,000 hectares;
- Priority will be given to enterprises whose agricultural infrastructure has sustained significant damage;
- The sleeves must be used exclusively to store the producers’ own grain and oilseed crops.
The initiative covers frontline and war-affected regions: Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Odesa oblasts.
To apply, agricultural producers must:
- Log in to their personal account in the State Agrarian Register (DAR).
- Select the program providing free grain storage sleeves.
- Complete the application form and submit it by September 13, 2026.
