The President of Ukraine lifted sanctions against the former manager of an international financial group, a French citizen and client of VB Partners.
Chronology of events:
- February 2023. Sanctions were imposed on the Client for his alleged membership in the governing body of a Russian bank.
- February 2025. The Supreme Court upheld VB Partners' defence position and found that the sanctions were imposed on the basis of unverified data. The state did not provide evidence to support the allegations.
- October 2025. The President of Ukraine issued a decree lifting the sanctions.
As a result, the sanctions were finally lifted and the Client's rights were fully restored.
This decision underscores the importance of the state's compliance with standards of reasonableness and proper verification of the grounds for imposing sanctions. VB Partners consistently upholds the principle that sanctions cannot be a tool for arbitrary restriction of rights. They must be applied exclusively on the basis of verified facts and in a lawful manner.
VB Partners has exceptional experience in challenging sanctions both in court and at the level of state authorities. Over more than 10 years of the sanctions mechanism being in place, the firm has repeatedly achieved their cancellation in the interests of its clients – Ukrainian and foreign companies and individuals.
