The National Bank Has Changed the Rules for Opening and Closing Bank Accounts

The National Bank of Ukraine has settled a number of issues related to the procedure for opening and closing bank customers' accounts, as well as attracting deposits to banks' depositors' accounts. The National Bank, taking into account the requirements of the updated legislation on financial monitoring:

  • provided for the possibility of remote establishment of business relations between the bank and the client in compliance with the requirements established by the regulations of the National Bank on financial monitoring;
  • gave banks the right to close current accounts of the client if there are grounds provided by the legislation on financial monitoring;
  • forbade banks to close current accounts of clients in case the funds on the client's account are frozen (suspended) in accordance with the legislation on financial monitoring.
