Sayenko Kharenko Helps Ukravtodor to Launch a Joint Anti-Corruption Project with EBRD

The State Agency for Roads of Ukraine (“Ukravtodor”), within the framework of a joint anti-corruption project, will reconfigure its management and procurement practices according to the recommendations of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”).

The loan agreement between Ukravtodor and the EBRD  signed in December 2020 for EUR 450 million provides for the implementation of four important reforms in the road industry:

  • A procurement reform;
  • An improved traffic safety;
  • Development of infrastructure for electric transport; and
  • An anti-corruption reform.

Sayenko Kharenko works in partnership with the distinguished Basel Institute on Governance (Switzerland).

Sayenko Kharenko together with the colleagues of the Basel Institute on Governance will support Ukravtodor in updating its anti-corruption compliance system and implementing a practical and effective anti-corruption action plan for the next years.

Counsel Ario Dehghani comments: “Today, fighting corruption is one of the most urgent and crucial tasks for Ukraine in the public and private sector. To support one of the biggest state-owned organisations managing one of the biggest state budgets of Ukraine to build up further a stronger culture of compliance ethics and governance program is a very big honour for our entire team. We believe that this project can be a successful pilot project for fighting corruption in the public sector and bringing Ukraine further forward.”

Sayenko Kharenko’s team working on the project is led by counsel Ario Dehghani and includes associates Volodymyr Stetsenko and Yuliia Brusko.
