As Ukraine continues to navigate war with extraordinary determination, access to high-quality education remains both an urgent need and a long-term investment in the country’s future. Pechersk School International (PSI Kyiv) has announced the opening of applications for its PSI for Good: Foundation Scholarship Programme, designed to support talented young people whose lives have been affected by the war. The programme is part of PSI’s broader commitment to nurturing future leaders equipped with compassion, resilience, and a global outlook.
PSI Kyiv has been providing scholarships to students in Ukraine since 2017. Following the full-scale invasion, the school launched the PSI for Good initiative to support its community and re-established a scholarship pathway for children affected by war. Since 2024, PSI has also collaborated with the Children of Heroes Foundation to support children who have lost parents in the war. In 2026, the school is re-launching the Foundation Scholarship Programme to maximise outreach and extend this opportunity to even more children and families.
Reflecting on the purpose behind the programme, Trae Holland, School Director, notes that PSI not only provides knowledge, but also develops the skills students need “to adapt to the future, especially during war”, adding that the school strives “to change the lives of our students for the better.”
The programme is intended for students currently enrolled in Ukrainian schools who are applying to enter Grade 8 in the 2026–2027 academic year. Eligible applicants include children from families of current military personnel, families who have lost a parent due to the war, and internally displaced families. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and meet PSI’s admissions and scholarship criteria.
In addition to the regular admissions requirements, scholarship applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong academic record, a good command of English, motivation, personal integrity, and readiness to join an international learning environment. PSI is also seeking students who are open to pursuing the full International Baccalaureate programme and considering university study in English after graduation.
The scholarship provides full tuition support through to graduation in Grade 12, subject to successful academic progress. Applications for the upcoming academic year must be submitted by 19 April. Alongside the standard admissions documentation, applicants are required to submit a motivation letter, a short video introduction, and confirmation documents regarding their status through the PSI application portal.
The selection process includes academic review, English language and mathematics assessment, an interview with school leadership, and evaluation by a scholarship review committee composed of members of PSI’s leadership and academic teams. PSI states that the goal is not only to identify academic potential, but also to welcome students who will contribute to and benefit from its diverse, values-driven community.
The school also emphasises that while no scholarship can replace loss, access to a stable, caring, and academically challenging learning environment can provide continuity, opportunity, and hope. Through the PSI for Good: Foundation Scholarship Programme, PSI seeks to ensure that talented and motivated students have the chance to grow, belong, and develop the knowledge, compassion, and leadership needed to shape a better world.
