Due to the war, millions of Ukrainians have lost their jobs and been forced to leave their homes. Supporting the employment of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and helping them integrate into new communities is one of the key challenges the Ukrainian Red Cross is addressing.
The Reboot program has been operating since 2024. It helps people facing challenging circumstances find employment or start their own businesses. The program focuses on supporting IDPs, people with disabilities, single parents, demobilized service members, and other vulnerable groups.
Through the Reboot program, 3,762 people have successfully found employment, with 60% of them being internally displaced persons.
The program not only supports individuals but also helps employers fill their staffing needs. Through partnerships with local businesses, participants gain access to job openings, while companies find motivated candidates who completed training, reskilling, and career coaching. This approach accelerates the integration of people affected by the war and contributes to the sustainable development of Ukrainian communities.
Program participants receive comprehensive support on their path to employment, including:
- access to vocational training and reskilling;
- career counselling;
- assistance with CV and resume preparation, as well as interview coaching;
- psychosocial support;
- digital skills training and language courses.
The sectors where participants most frequently find employment include the beauty industry, retail, education, and healthcare. Other popular fields include accounting, agriculture, and administrative support. In addition, many program graduates build careers in IT, construction, energy and power supply, auto repair, as well as water supply and wastewater management.
The program operates in an in-person format in Kyiv and 11 oblasts of Ukraine: Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Ternopil, Vinnytsia, Lviv, Poltava, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk. In other regions of Ukraine, training is available online.
