INTEGRITES has been successfully acting as Ukrainian law counsel for Ukrenergo, Ukrainian transmission system operator, in the investment treaty arbitration against Russia.
On 5 August 2024, the arbitral tribunal upheld jurisdiction over Ukrenergo’s EUR 527 million claim relating to the expropriation of its Crimean assets.
Ukrenergo commenced arbitration under the Ukraine – Russia Bilateral Investment Treaty in 2019. Among others, it seeks compensation for Ukrenergo’s electricity grid seized by Russia after the purported annexation of Crimea in 2014.
Partners Serhii Uvarov and Dmytro Marchukov lead the INTEGRITES team, which also includes associate Iryna Ivanova. Hughes Hubbard & Reed act as international law counsel to Ukrenergo (having taken over from LALIVE).
