Hillmont Partners has provided full legal support to the international company Bunge SA (registered in Switzerland) in resolving its debt dispute with a national agricultural enterprise dealing with the production and sale of grain and oilseeds.
Bunge is a multinational agribusiness and food company engaged in processing oilseeds, supply of fertilizers for farmers, bottled oil, mayonnaise, margarine and other food products for consumers, in the production of sugar and ethanol.
Bunge concluded contracts for wheat supply with a Ukrainian grain exporter. However, the Ukrainian counterparty did not supply the appropriate grain, as a result of which international commercial arbitration decisions imposed fines on it for breach of contractual obligations.
Hillmont’s lawyers represented Bunge in court cases on the recognition and granting of permission for the enforcement of international commercial arbitration decisions, and also provided full legal support to the client in enforcing these decisions. As a result of the work handled, the fines were collected in full in favour of Bunge.
Senior Partner Valentyn Zasukha managed the cases. He was supported by the team of the firm’s dispute resolution practice led by Senior Partner Andrii Nyzhnyi.
