We are happy to share the outcomes of our latest AmCham Sustainability Steering Committee meeting.
1. Sustainability Survey Insights
Our survey results highlighted that businesses seek clear guidelines, practical support, and collaboration with authorities to effectively achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a part of our 2025 Action Plan, we will:
- Engage key stakeholders to align sustainability policies with business needs;
- Launch educational initiatives to provide businesses with the tools to integrate sustainable practices effectively.
2. ESG Regulations: Why They Matter
While sustainability reporting is crucial for transparency, businesses require a realistic and phased approach for successful implementation. AmCham Ukraine is advocating for regulations that strike a balance between global best practices and market realities, ensuring a smooth transition for businesses.
3. Waste Packaging Regulation: Key Priorities
We continue to push for EU-aligned regulations that promote effective packaging waste management. Our priorities include:
- Setting recycling targets with built-in flexibility for growth.
- Implementing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principles to ensure proper collection and recycling of packaging waste.
- Introducing sufficient transition period post-martial law to help businesses adapt to new regulations.
In addition, we are pleased to welcome AVE Umwelt Ukraine LLC as the new Steering member of the Sustainability Steering Committee. The company’s expertise in environmental services will provide valuable insights and strengthen our collective sustainability efforts.
The AmCham Sustainability Committee remains committed to integrating sustainable solutions into legislation, leveraging international expertise, and fostering the fulfillment of both Ukraine’s national commitments and business sustainability goals.
