To harmonize the system of categorization of Ukrainian hotel market in accordance with EU practices, in June 2021 Ukraine joined the international hospitality community - HOTREC and Hotel Stars Union, being awarded the observer status membership to further introduce classification algorithms for hotel categorization to unify and improve the consumer experience and quality control. Formally Ukraine is represented via UHRA - Ukrainian Hotel & Resort Association.
What is HSU?
HotelStars Union was founded in 2009 under the HOTREC umbrella - the strategic partnership of EU member countries' national hospitality-industry-associations - to uniform quality classification of hotels in Europe. The HSU hotel classification system is based on 21 principles of transparency and professionalism, awareness of quality and safety both for guests and hoteliers. Today, more than 22,000 hotels are classified by HSU criteria, which is more than 1.2 million rooms in the participating countries.
27 countries are members of the HSU.
In May, Ukraine, represented by UHRA, has joined both HOTREC and HSU.

What is UHRA?
Ukrainian Hotel and Resort Association of Ukraine (registration code 43851744) - non-profit public organization, uniting hotels and resort accommodation properties, operators and hotel developers of Ukraine.
Founded in October 2020, today has more than 100 hotels from 23 regions, employing 5,000 employees.
The association is open for new members to join.
What is AHA?
Azerbaijan Hotel Association (AHA) - represents the industry, encourages and manages the implementation of international standards, and also shares best international and domestic practices among hotels to promote quality improvement and ensure fair competition in hospitality industry. Founded in 2018, today includes 100 members, including international chains. In 2019 AHA became members of HOTREC and HSU. Mrs. Gunay Saglam is the CEO of the Association and is also head of the classification department of the Tourism Bureau of Azerbaijan since 2018. Has operational experience in managing hotels such as Four Season, Hilton, Radisson in Azerbaijan, Dubai and Turkey.
