As the war in Ukraine continues, there is a growing need for more recovery at an increasing pace. This raises new challenges for investors and businesses that must adapt to this constantly shifting environment. However, M&A activity in 2023 has convincingly demonstrated that investors are open to investment opportunities in Ukraine across diverse sectors such as real estate, agriculture, IT, and beyond.

At the event, we looked into key industries that are likely to drive Ukraine’s recovery, assessed their potential, and discussed the stimuli that could intensify the recovery, including the war risks insurance instruments.

Speakers:

Anna Babych, Executive Partner at Aequo, Head of M&A and Corporate Practice. Anna also chairs Private Equity, Technology and Communications, Media and Entertainment, Defense, and Security and Aerospace industry groups. Anna focuses on international and domestic mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, and general corporate commercial advice to public and private companies. Her transactional experience includes leading roles in some of the most complex high-value deals in recent Ukrainian history. Anna’s client base includes national and international corporations, financial institutions, and private equity firms.

Svitlana Shcherbatyuk, Director, Head of Transaction Services, Deal Advisory, KPMG in Ukraine. Svitlana has extensive experience advising on Ukrainian and cross-border transactions, having worked on the deals across the CEE, CIS, and EMA regions. Her expertise covers deal advisory services, financial and commercial due diligence, independent business review, advice on transaction documents, and negotiation support. Svitlana advises on various cross-border and domestic transactions in several sectors, including oil and gas, metallurgy, telecommunications, media, IT, pharmaceuticals, consumer markets, and other industrial sectors.

Oleksandr Gryban, Head of the Investment Team at Advantage Ukraine. Oleksandr formerly served as Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine (2021–2023), spearheading the establishment of the Ukraine Development Fund in collaboration with major players like BlackRock and JP Morgan, with support from McKinsey. Oleksandr is dedicated to establishing an international insurance pool against military risks and a specialized risk data exchange platform with the backing of Marsh McLennan. With 20 years of experience in the financial sector, Oleksandr has managed over $500 million in assets, held key positions at Concorde Capital and the Amstar International Direct Investment Fund, facilitated interbank transactions, developed risk systems at HVB Bank's Ukrainian branch, and provided advisory services to the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
