In Ukraine, the stigmatization of individuals who have lost limbs due to amputations creates significant barriers to their reintegration into society. More than 50,000 soldiers have suffered such injuries during the war, and over half of them experience depression or anxiety. These psychological challenges hinder their return to active social life and, coupled with biases regarding physical abilities, contribute to a high unemployment rate among veterans (30.95% as of 2024).
The "Go to the Future" run aims to unite the community in support of these heroes and draw attention to the importance of their integration. We seek to demonstrate that even after losing a limb, individuals can lead fulfilling and active lives. Veterans with prosthetics participating in the run alongside other participants will serve as a powerful symbol of resilience and possibility, helping to break down societal stereotypes.
All proceeds from participant registrations will go toward prosthetics and rehabilitation for severely injured soldiers. The event is supported by sponsorships, which cover its organizational costs.
