The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine welcomes the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of amendments introducing alternative and simplified procedures in the energy sector.
The amendments revise Article 21 of the Law of Ukraine #2019-VIII “On the Electricity Market”, granting customers financing transmission grid connections the right to independently select contractors for design, construction and installation, commissioning, reconstruction, and technical modernization works related to external power supply infrastructure up to the connection point. Previously, the implementation of such works largely depended on the actions and procedures determined by the transmission system operator.
The adopted changes will provide investors with greater flexibility and control over project implementation, while making the grid connection process more efficient, transparent, and predictable.
At the same time, the AmCham remains committed to contributing to the development of comprehensive public procurement legislation, enhancing the efficiency and transparency of procurement procedures, and addressing other regulatory barriers that affect business operations and the implementation of investment projects in Ukraine.
