Policy Progress: Government Adopted a Resolution on Changing the Mandatory Share of Imported Electricity by Enterprises for Uninterrupted Electricity Supply

On November 26, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved Resolution #1342 “On Amendments to the Regulations on the Peculiarities of Importing Electricity under the Legal Regime of Martial Law in Ukraine”, which amended subparagraph 1 of paragraph 6 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine #1127 "On Approval of the Regulation on the Peculiarities of Importing Electricity under the Legal Regime of Martial Law in Ukraine" dated October 27, 2023, regarding the reduction of the mandatory share of imported electricity by enterprises from 80% to 60% of the volume of consumption for uninterrupted electricity supply.

The AmCham member companies have consistently addressed the Government of Ukraine regarding this issue. In the latest position paper, AmCham appealed to the Government to reduce the mandatory share of imported electricity to 30-50% depending on the season for uninterrupted electricity supply to enterprises.

The AmCham member companies believe that reducing the mandatory percentage of imported electricity to avoid disconnections of enterprises from the electricity supply will positively impact the economy of Ukraine and ensure business continuity during the war.

We express our gratitude to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for the adopted Resolution and look forward to further reducing the mandatory share of imported electricity for uninterrupted power supply to enterprises.
