Ukraine's centralized energy infrastructure has suffered extensive damage, causing serious challenges for the sustainable operation of businesses in Ukraine. Norwegian-Ukrainian Company Fenix Repower is currently developing several renewable energy projects worth close to 700 MW across Ukraine to close this gap. In addition to these projects, Fenix Repower is open to considering additional power-consumer tailormade projects connected directly to the customer’s facilities. These on-site or near on-site projects allow to achieve high levels of energy independence from the grid.

Questions for discussion:

  • How to get a high level of power autonomy (or full autonomy) from the state grid in conditions of power cuts?
  • How to ensure energy price certainty at a competitive rate?
  • Key features of the different technologies: Wind, PV-Solar, BESS, Gas Peaker
  • Organizational, financial and technical features of project partnership with Fenix Repower
  • Energy management: variety of arrangements between the power consumer and the power producer in Ukraine

Speaker:

Bernt Granås, CEO, Fenix Repower. Bernt began his career with Shell, where he spent 30 years in project development and management across Norway, Russia, the Netherlands, and the USA. He led the construction of a $3 billion gas plant in Russia’s Far East and served as Technical Director for Shell Norway for 7 years, among other oil and gas project management roles. In 2016, Bernt founded what is now Fenix Repower, initially as a consultancy in the renewable energy sector, later transitioning into development. His achievements include developing a 300 MW wind power plant in Norway (2018), managing the 205 MW Syvash wind power plant in Ukraine (2019-2021), and initiating construction of the 800 MW Zophia wind power plant in Melitopol.
