About lecturer:
Except AUK, Dr. Oleksandr Romanko works as Lead Research Scientist in Financial Risk Quantitative Research at SS&C Technologies Canada, he is also an Adjunct Professor at University of Toronto, UCU and KSE. He received Ph.D. in Computer Science from McMaster University. Previously, he worked as a Senior Research Analyst and Manager of Quantitative Research at Watson Financial Services division of IBM. Dr. Romanko received several industrial awards including IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Award (2014) and Eminence and Excellence IBM Award to Quantitative Research Group of IBM Risk Analytics (2012).
Dr. Romanko's research focuses on optimization algorithms, financial portfolio optimization, machine learning, and AI applied to finance and risk management. He served as a Senior Policy Advisor to Anna Novosad, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, from 2019 to 2020. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Shevchenko Scientific Society of Canada.
