Since russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the world has seen increased restrictive measures and sanctions in various jurisdictions. The sanctions landscape has rapidly evolved since February 24, 2022. With the introduction of martial law, Ukraine's sanctions policy became tougher. Some sanctions aim to protect the security, but some are applied without proper verification, affecting businesses not supporting the aggressive policy of the russian Federation. A mere indication of a connection with russian-owned companies can block assets, restrict trade operations, suspend economic and financial obligations, revoke or suspend licenses and other permits, including for subsoil use, and prevent the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine.

Questions for discussion:

  • The evolution of Ukrainian sanctions in protecting national interests
  • Price of risk: what is the cost of cooperation with sanctioned counterparties?
  • Sanction of asset forfeiture of russian accomplices: conditions and grounds for application, statistics of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine, confiscated assets of sanctioned persons
  • War & Sanctions Registry of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption: purpose and goal of implementation, current situation
  • Are there any mechanisms for lifting sanctions?
