Kyiv, Ukraine, 7 March 2023:
- Baker McKenzie's Kyiv office is continuing to cooperate with a number of Ukrainian universities to support their talents and contribute to the practical knowledge of law students to excel in their future legal profession. In honor of the 30th anniversary of Baker McKenzie's operations in Ukraine, the Kyiv office has launched two six-month scholarships for bachelor's law degree students at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv — from the Law Department of the Institute of Law and from the International Law Department of the Institute of International Relations.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, Baker McKenzie Kyiv lawyers joined the teaching staff of the International Law Department of the Institute of International Relations to hold a number of lectures and seminars within the department's study courses. The lectures covered a variety of topics, including comparative civil procedure with Counsel Kseniia Prokhur, comparative labor law with Associate Anna Stepanowa, comparative IP law with Senior Associate Myroslava Koval-Lavok, international financial law with Associate Stepanyda Badovska and international private law with Senior Associate Anna Boyko and Associate Stepanyda Badovska.
- For the fourth consecutive year, Baker McKenzie held a guest course within the master's degree program on Commercial Law for the Law Department of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. As part of the course from September to November 2022, lawyers from the Kyiv office covered three disciplines — compliance, energy law and procedural law — which constituted a course of nine lectures and five seminars on the practical aspects of business law. The Baker McKenzie teaching staff this semester included counsels Mariana Marchuk, Kseniia Prokhur and Andrii Moskalyk respectively.
- In September 2022, we started a new study course on IP/ IT law for students at Yaroslav Mydryi National University that will run through two study semesters. Baker McKenzie's counsel Oleksiy Stolyarenko and senior associates Myroslava Koval-Lavok and Anton Kapitonenko have been holing a number of lectures and seminars on the practical aspects of IP/IT law and data protection for students of the master's degree program of the university's Law Department.
