The United States, with the G7 and the European Union, continue to impose severe and immediate economic costs on the Putin regime for its atrocities in Ukraine. On April 6, 2022, President Biden signed an Executive Order that includes a prohibition on new investment in Russia by U.S. persons wherever located, which will further isolate Russia from the global economy. This action builds on the decision made by more than 600 multinational businesses to exit Russia.
AmCham Ukraine fully supports this decision and applauds companies that have acted with determination and are already shutting down all operations in Russia. Their business ethics and ESG policies do not allow them to work with a murderous pariah regime in Russia, the most sanctioned country globally, that continues to commit genocide and war crimes across Ukraine.
Companies must not invest and profiteer from a repugnant regime. Nothing will cover the future embarrassment of operating in a country, financing Russia's killing machine that butchers children, and women, in 21st century Europe.
